The scenic and welcoming village of QBZ has been traumatized over the years by army raids, arrests, and killings. Two years ago, soldiers open-fired on a schoolyard full of children to punish them for throwing rocks at army jeeps passing by. Many villagers (several of them children) have been killed over the years, and dozens more seriously wounded. the village continues to have almost daily raids by the army, many of which seem more provocative than security-oriented. for several weeks, iwps has brought a semi-constant international presence to the village, particularly to the boys school where students were killed in the past.
